Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American journalist and photojournalist who has been reporting for over 45 years focusing on the suffering of people in the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry was a journalist in war-zones such as Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) was an American television reporter, anchor and journalist. She was most famous for her work as a reporter on The Today Show, which was a morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Her reporting stood out because of her coverage of human crises occurring in war-torn nations as well as natural catastrophes. Curry's mother is Japanese and her father is an American Navy Sailor. After World War II, her parents came together while her father was serving in Japan. Her father was a member of the military, and she was forced to relocate often. Curry completed her high school in Ashland Oregon. She earned a journalism certificate from The University of Oregon in 1978. Her exposure to different cultures and experiences during her upbringing likely influenced her empathetic way of communicating on international matters. In Medford the following year, she began her broadcasting career at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. at the age of 22, she was able to become the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Then she was promoted to anchoring and reporting for KGW which is an affiliate of NBC located in Portland. After four years of service, she was hired as reporter for KCBS TV which is located in Los Angeles. It was during her time with the channel for a period of six years that she received two Emmy Awards.
